About Dolphin Discovery Centre

The Dolphin Discovery Centre is also a non-profit organization, so every purchase made helps fund our important conservation, ecotourism, education and research projects - helping to secure the future of our amazing marine life. Collaboration between the Bunbury Dolphin Discovery Centre, universities, government agencies and other like-minded organizations locally and internationally helps to ensure that the welfare of our wild dolphin population and marine environment remain at the heart of our activities. In particular, our research partnerships have provided a scientific foundation for understanding our local dolphin population, and future research will include expanding our 31 years of dolphin-specific research, monitoring and exploring our marine environment.

There are currently 2 different models of scissors. Highlight is our craft scissors comfort in 5 different colors. Each color is assigned to an animal: Dolphin - turquoise, Crab - red, Octopus - light purple, Whale - light blue and Turtle - green. Each individual pair of scissors has a full coral reef engraved with the respective animals on both the outer and inner blades. The reverse side also offers space for an optional engraving of your choice. This makes the scissors a very special personal gift and on request we pack the scissors lovingly in one of our high quality gift boxes.

What also makes this great collaboration and the collection so special: For every pair of scissors sold, we jointly donate € 5 to Geographe Marine Research Ltd and the Dolphin Discovery Centre in Bunbury. 

Let your fish swim in the virtual aquarium

And that's not all, because for every order you receive as a thank you by mail from us a download link. In this link you will find a painting template with a marine animal as a PDF for download. You can print this template as you like, color it and send it back to us as a scan by mail or by post. We will then collect all the pictures and send them to the Dolphin Discovery Centre in Australia. And what happens then is almost magical! Because there is a huge virtual aquarium and you can see and follow how your artwork swims in it. How that looks, you can see wonderfully here in this video.

Care tips for the optimal sharpness of the craft scissors

The Comfort craft scissors would also survive a round in the dishwasher, but they are best cleaned with warm water and a little detergent. Scouring pads and sharp cleaners should be avoided so that the material is not damaged and you benefit from optimum sharpness for a long time. Putting a drop of PAUL care oil into the screw slot and between the scissor halves made of high-quality stainless steel every now and then always ensures pleasantly smooth cutting. Should the craft scissors no longer cut optimally after a long time or come to damage, take advantage of our special service: we will gladly sharpen and repair the scissors - for more sharpness and sustainability.
