"The world is small" - and so these words can best describe how this wonderful #gemeinsamstark project came about at the other end of the world.
Because a few years ago my dear breeder friend Andrea emigrated with her family to "Western Australia", for the time being only for one and a half years and but then Corona came.
Andreas' husband Frank is a gifted photographer and has already worked intensively for many years in Germany for the protection of the environment and nature. Whales fascinated him especially after a trip to Australia. To do more, Frank and other partners founded Geographe Marine Research (GMR) Ltd. in 2021. GMR is a non-profit, structured and growing organization that uses state-of-the-art techniques to observe and understand whales, dolphins and pinnipeds (such as fur seals) and to study their behavior and migration in relation to climate change.

The Dolphin Discovery Centre is also a non-profit organization, so every purchase made helps fund our important conservation, ecotourism, education and research projects - helping to secure the future of our amazing marine life. Collaboration between the Bunbury Dolphin Discovery Centre, universities, government agencies and other like-minded organizations locally and internationally helps to ensure that the welfare of our wild dolphin population and marine environment remain at the heart of our activities. In particular, our research partnerships have provided a scientific foundation for understanding our local dolphin population, and future research will include expanding our 31 years of dolphin-specific research, monitoring and exploring our marine environment.

There are currently 2 different scissors models. Highlight is the craft scissors comfort in 5 different colors. Each color is assigned to an animal: Dolphin - turquoise, crab - red, octopus - light purple, whale - light blue and turtle - green. Each individual pair of scissors has a full coral reef engraved with the respective animals on both the outer and inner blades. The reverse side also offers space for an optional engraving of your choice. This makes the scissors a very special personal gift and, if desired, we will lovingly package the scissors in one of our high-quality gift boxes.

And that's not all, because for every order you receive as a thank you by mail from us a download link. In this link you will find a painting template with a marine animal as a PDF for download. You can print this template as you like, color it and send it back to us as a scan by mail or by post. We will then collect all the pictures and send them to the Dolphin Discovery Centre in Australia. And what happens then is almost magical! Because there is a huge virtual aquarium and you can see and follow how your artwork swims in it. How that looks, you can see wonderfully here in this video.

The Dolphin Discovery Centre in Bunbury is dedicated to protecting marine animals and preserving their environment. The DDC seeks to raise over $300,000 each year to fund their life-saving programs. They accomplish this through tourism, café & conference center, grants and donations. And now, through our collection, you too have the opportunity to contribute.
